IACF College Scholarship Application

Indo-American Charity Foundation is a nonprofit, non-political charitable organization. Since 1988, the foundation has worked to provide monetary and in-kind contributions to promote Education, Family welfare including women’s and seniors’ needs, General needs including hunger, and Healthcare. Since 1993, the foundation has been providing scholarships for the graduating seniors from the Greater Houston Area high schools to pursue higher education. We hope to continue our efforts with generous contributions from the members of the community, and businesses.

Scholarships of $1000 to $2500 each are available to qualified applicants. Please submit your complete application on our website by April 10, 2016 with a short bio and last year’s tax return. You may attach any other relevant documents for our scholarship committee members’ consideration

Application Instructions for Scholarship

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  1.  The students (college-bound graduating seniors) must be U.S. Citizens or legal residents residing in the greater Houston communities.
  2.  Minimum SAT score of 1700 (out of 2400) or ACT score of 25 (out of 36) with a minimum B (3.0) average GPA.
  3.  The yearly household income should not exceed $60,000.

 The scholarship is a one-time award based on the evaluation by panel of judges who will assess the applicants’ financial needs, academic record, essay and other achievements including community and extracurricular activities. Judges decisions will be final.

How to Apply:
Completed application and supporting documents must be received by e-mail no later than April 10,2016. Successful applicants will be notified by May 2016.

Contents of the application submission:
Completed applications must include the following. Additional sheets may be used where
necessary. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

  1.  One completed copy of the entire application form.
  2.  Three reference letters. (Two from teachers and one from a member of the community not related to the applicant.)
  3.  Proof of student’s or parents’ residential status (U.S. Citizen or legal resident):  Copy of student’s or parents’ passport (inside page 1)
  4.  Tax information: Previous year’s tax return from parents or legal guardian
